9"x 12" oil...(click on image to see larger)
There are some paintings on location that perhaps
ought not even be entertained to try. That is, unless
the artist is not afraid of failure, intrigued instead by
what chances of good fortune one might fall upon
learning something more about painting, about
nature's light.
I seem to be a glutton for punishment, today
dodging winds, storm and gale, rain...with bouts of
break thru the clouds sunlight. At about 7:30 pm
my light, my break finally came. Greatly intrigued
by the cloud activity...the color.
My artist/son Jason called about 8:45pm...as I was
applying finishing touches. I had no idea what time
it was until he told me. Wow...really pushing the
envelope!
I used a bit of turquoise blue tonight with my
French Ultramarine blue...I guess just to see what
I might. I might have painted the upper right corner
a bit strong, dark...but that too is part of the risk
going right up into last light. I do believe I;m rather
happy with this painting however...

6" x 6" ~ Watercolor on Paper
I used a lot of Cobalt in this watercolor, in both the deep background and the soft form of the flower. (You know how I love Cobalt.) The boys and I went to a local art fair today. We spent all afternoon there. It was the most fun I've had in quite some time. Working at home here does have it's "isolation factor". I saw so many artists that are dear to my heart. There is a special bond between artists. I feel as through we are one big family. I feel blessed to be able to call them my friends.

This was a painting I completed early on in my adventure with daily painting. It was painted from a photograph my brother took and edited in Photoshop. I'm posting it just to keep in touch because I haven't been able to get into my studio all weekend. My computer went through a total hard drive failure and I've traveled back and forth to the Apple Store in Albany,NY for the past three days. I've finally gotten my printer to print while hooked to my computer and now I am about to attempt to figure out how to get it to print wirelessly again and reinstall some software. Fortunately, I had almost everything backed up.
I've finally completed the pumpkin painting and if I find the time to photograph it tomorrow I will post it. I am very happy with it and have already received some great feedback from my subscribers regarding the unfinished version.
Hope to visit with you again real soon...

Orange Mysteries; Illuminated Tile. See more of this tile here.
From my second series of tiles; focusing on fruits and flowers. A mixed media collage on tile, with acrylic, colored pencil, feathers, assorted textures and sprinkled with a bit of magic, and in this case - mystery. Protected with a non-yellowing indoor outdoor matte sealer - though I wouldn't put this out in your garden. 3.5" x 3.5" squared.
Each original tile is titled and signed by the artist on the back.
Price: $55.32 which includes shipping, insurance and tracking. I am presently only shipping within the United States. Outside of the US? Drop me an email and we'll crunch the postage numbers together.

Glads for Sale by Alison Vernon
24x30,oil with palette knives
The morning sun spots our floors. Carrying coffee, I stroll through the the garden...peonies, daisies, irises all in their glory. Our two pups have gone back to sleep after the usual morning frenzy of peeing/pooping/eating/and barking at the chickens. On these sublime mornings, I find myself thinking about the hardships facing our flood-ravished Iowa countrymen and women. Their morning must be the opposite of this. My appreciation for this NH morning is heightened but with a counter twinge of despair.

This is, yet, another one of my peach series. Tomorrow, hopefully, there will be juicy mangoes that I got at the market, yesterday. I loved painting peaches, so, I'm sure I shall be coming back to this subject.
